I have a solid 14k gold bracelet watch I want to sell,(with 1 carat of diamonds).
I took it to a pawn shop today…..they said it weighed 40.6 grams and
only offered $175.00 for it. I realize they offer less than it’s worth to make a profit, but I wanted to know if this is a fair price.

You can find the price of gold here anytime:

http://www.kitco.com

The price is for 24K pure gold, and is quoted in $US / troy ounce.

Divide by 31.1 to get the price per gram. Multiply that by 0.58333 to adjust for the 14K.

Right now, ($843.60/ 31.1) * 40.6 * 0.583333 = $642.42

This is based on spot price. People may offer you less, as you have found, but nobody will offer you more

The diamonds are another factor that I cannot evaluate. The gold in your bracelet is worth about $642.42, or whatever you can get for it.

If you haven’t noticed, the jewelry market has been on the warpath over the last few years. It’s not just rock stars, athletes or severely image conscious men who have been sporting jewelry, it’s your every day men who are looking for a little style to spice up their attire. It’s men like the Tuttles. Yes, you see them on television but no; they are not your average television stars. They have their own successful titanium-jewlery.com exclusive OCC line of titanium rings, bracelets and necklaces that look as stylish and futuristic as their motorcycles do. This is hands down proof that the average man is looking to enhance their style with this new wave of mens jewelry.

Gone are the days of being restricted to simple, gold or white goal rings with little adventure in shape and excitement. We’ve reached a new era where you can get exciting designs with brilliant colors in time tested titanium or tungsten metal alloys that will withstand the abuse an active man will put it through.

With new designers like J.R Yates and his unique style of inlaying sterling silver ropes into a tungsten carbide ring is cutting edge in design and style. Edward Mirrell has achieved notoriety in GQ and Esquire for his remarkable work with his black titanium sports ring. These are just a few of the examples that are currently available that push the envelope on men’s rings.

It doesn’t just stop with rings either. Men have been buying bracelets and necklaces in record numbers to help complement their investment in style. For example, Triton has released a black diamond bracelet called the Halcyon which is very affordable considering it had a total of fifty diamonds surrounding it’s titanium base. It’s rugged yet attractive and will surely grab the eyes of everyone in the room.

Fashion statements are no longer reserved for the most beautiful of women but can now be had by the average man who has been looking to develop their own style without going too deep into the world of vanity. mens rings are a rugged style that meshes sophistication with the blue color roots of almost every man and it is taking the world by storm. Whether you are looking for your own ring or you are looking to buy that special person a gift they might not have thought of for themselves a stylish men’s ring will be an excellent choice.

I wanted to start a personal jewelry business and i am looking for a cheapest/way down prices of Solid gold jewelries. If anybody has idea please let me know. Thank you for your help.

Good Luck.

For what it’s worth:

Depending on where you live it may be illegal to call anything less than 10K "jewelry". It is against the law almost everywhere to misrepresent the purity of a gold object.

You might look up some jewelry wholesalers. Unfortunately, it is not inexpensive. Spot prices of gold are about $37/gram, and a gram doesn’t weigh very much. 10K and 14K are cheaper than that if spot is $37/g, than 14 K should go for $21.58/g and 10K would go for $15.41/g.

Spot prices can change rapidly check often:

I have a bracelet that is completely solid gold and am now starting a different one and getting rid of my older bracelet. I was wondering what is your favorite combination of metals for a charm bracelet?
Gold or silver chain with gold, silver, or even colored charms.
*money is not a problem, just what you think looks the best*

I’m a silver person, all my jewelry is silver including my Tiffany’s charm bracelets and I would recommend picking EITHER silver or gold, don’t mix, it’ll look rather cheap, but if you pick one (either silver or gold) you can add colored charms to spice it up! Just make sure they’re good quality so the paint doesn’t chip :)

People love to wear antique jewelry in 18k pure yellow gold. Egyptian jewelry is of particular importance in this category as it is mostly made of solid gold and silver. These ancient jewelry articles include pendants, rings, earrings, and bracelets. The beauty and allure of these articles is sometimes enhanced by using lovely gemstones in various colors. Egyptian gold work comprises of filigree and engraved letters and symbols. Other shapes are also carved beautifully and expertly. These shapes include the Scarab, King Tut’s mask, stone eye of Horus, Akhenaten Ankh, Lotus Flower, and the Pyramid. Sterling silver jewelry can also be found in this category which is equally beautiful and attractive.

In ancient Egypt, soldering and welding were commonly employed to fuse different metals together. The gold work included techniques such as engraving and incised work. In addition to these, chased work was also used to create wonderful jewelry articles. Incised carving is normally used on wood to produce intricate works of art. Reverse hammering is used in repousse to decorate different metals including gold. Repousse is a French word and this technique is commonly seen in ancient Egyptian pendants and rings. Embossing and chasing are also used to create beautiful jewelry articles of the ancient style.

Sculptures and statues are popular items among ancient Egyptian jewelry. These are finished with different kinds of stone settings and marble bases. Hammering and other gold works are used to create a unique look. Repousse and chasing are still practiced in jewelry making by using modern and state-of-the-art machines. Different kinds of knives, hammers and saws were used by Egyptian artisans to produce intricate jewelry articles. The designs are still very much popular in all parts of the world. Plaster of Paris and resin materials are used to form strong settings.

The preserved Egyptian jewelry in the tombs of ancient kings shows lovely works of gold and silver. The jewelry of Tutankhamen’s (or King Tut’s) time is mostly composed of gold filigree and intricate gold patterns. Colored glass and semi-precious stones like feldspar, opal, lapis, garnet and jasper were also used to enhance the elegance of these jewelry articles. The pectoral is one of the excellent examples of Egyptian gold work. In addition to this, the Scarab and Egyptian amulets are also beautiful works of art. They are still very popular across the globe and loved by stylish people and those who like to collect antiques.

Ancient Egyptian jewelry, also known as the jewelry of the dead, is amazing and incredible. One can find intricate and delicate works of art along with different gold work techniques which are still in use by modern artisans. Plain gold rings, armlets and bracelets with ancient symbols, and Bedouin earrings are examples of stunning Egyptian ornaments. In addition to these, the pectoral which was worn as a jewelry article on the chest was decorated with inlaid gold work and lovely gemstones. The jewelry of kings and queens from Egypt is undoubtedly the most beautiful and lovely example of ancient gold work.

Bracelets Jewellery

July 18, 2010

A bracelet is a piece of jewellery that can be as simple as a string of leather or as complex as an incrusted metal and gem jewellery. It appears that the origin of the word “bracelet” comes from a Latin word and an old French word that would simply mean “of the arm”.

Like any other type of jewellery, the history of bracelets is very old. The first bracelets are thought to actually have a religious and spiritual purpose, and people in Latin America used to wear them to protect them against the evil eye. They could actually be attached to the arm as well as the ankle. Bracelets were also used for decorative purpose and were certainly the most popular form of decoration in the ancient world. They would have been very big or thinner and more delicate with sometimes a zoomorphic end.

Bracelets can be in a smooth and flexible form or a more solid form like bangles.

Glass bangles are actually very popular in India where they are made from ordinary coloured glass. They would be worn stacked so the movement of the arm would cause them to make a nice sound.

On top of bangles, you could find other types of bracelets like charm bracelets, slap bracelets, beaded bracelets or even link bracelets. Another common form of bracelet is the friendship bracelet. It usually is a simple handmade bracelet with various styles that are given to a friend as a symbol. Those kind of bracelets first appeared in Central America.

In present days, bracelets can still hold a particular meaning and significance and can be used for various different purposes such as medical to describe the medical condition of a person or simply decorative.

It seems that one very popular type of bracelet is called the Cubetto bracelet. They usually are a fine type of jewellery that will be recognised for the way it is crafted. They can be made of gold, silver or even both metals.

But among handmade bracelets, the most common style of bracelet would be the link bracelet. Those types of bracelets include charm bracelets, military or simply identification bracelets.

Like in the ancient times, bracelets are still a very important piece of jewellery, and bracelets of any kind would obviously make a good gift, whether it is for a friend or for a person you love.

They obviously have to be chosen with a lot of care.
