I have started making jewelry & only like using good quality stones, esp when using 14k gold. Why did I just see a bracelet for $4500 in 18k gold, with enamel charms? Doesn’t enamel fade or scratch-Please tell me about enamel & why it’s used with solid gold-only tell me if u have detailed info. Many thanx

Enamelling is a very specialized skill and uses very high quality materials. Enamelling has a very long history in in terms of fine jewelry making, and dates back a thousand years and more.

The process of enamelling involves specialized glass granules, a torch or kiln, and is time and skill intensive. The glass is melted onto a metal form, often copper, and forms a hard-wearing and durable layer of glass onto the metal. The glass does not fade or chip under normal conditions.

Enamelling is gaining popularity of late as jewelry artists continue to experiment with ancient techniques in new ways, and is a wonderful way to add color to precious metal work.

I am primarily a sterling silver and gold jewelry maker, and not an enamelling expert, so I don’t pretend to know exactly what’s involved, but I have looked into buying some enamelling supplies so I could try out some simple experiments for myself.

gotta see it, we cant tell by these simple descriptions. gems vary, they are all unique, are they natural. you say the gold is solid, but how much does it weigh, look up the current price of gold and adjust for karat.

Has anybody else noticed that all the Christian preachers are covered in solid gold jewelery and expensive suits. Like gold rings and gold bracelets and chains etc and there preaching to help the poor and needy. I just don’t get it. Aren’t preachers supposed to be poor.

Not all are like that but there are the exceptions that run their church like a business and charge members stipends for going there. They get this money tax free which is why we atheist have bumper stickers that say "tax the churches".
I could never figure out why these churches need such huge cathedrals,millions in broadcast technology and expensive cars,jets and the like to preach the word of Jeezus when Jesus himself did not need all of that to spread his gospel.
